Domino Amjet has introduced a YouTube Channel specifically designed to highlight and focus on digital printing products.

This new YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/DominoDigitalPrint) has been created to highlight customer success stories and product applications from Domino’s new portfolio of digital printing products that include the Domino K600i UV inkjet printer, Domino Bitjet solvent-based inkjet printer, and the Domino N600i digital color label press.

“We wanted to create a repository that was 100% dedicated to Domino’s digital printing solutions, where we could place videos of customer success stories and make them easily accessible for viewing,” says Bill Myers, marketing manager at Domino. “YouTube provides that platform,” he adds.

One of the customer success stories featured on the channel is The Label Printers of Aurora, IL, USA, which recently installed two Domino K600i inkjet systems. The company focuses on brand protection and security labels, as well as pharmaceuticals, electronics, prime, nutraceuticals, and health and beauty. The K600i is a high-resolution, single-color, modular inkjet system that has been designed for printing both variable data items and complete documents.

According to Tom Erickson, plant superintendent at The Label Printers, the K600i has allowed the company to decrease its ink

consumption by more than 10 times. “So, we are putting less ink down on the material, and we can print smaller information more legibly,” he says.

He adds that with the company’s previous system, operators were purging heads, printing test patters, making sure that there was no air in the lines to jet out, and so on. Now, he says, the company saves about 15 minutes each morning “and there is a lot less guesswork involved.”

Erickson adds that one of the reasons a move to digital has been limited for many companies is the initial costs and speed, but notes that costs associated with digital printing diminish as speeds increase.

“Digital offset is still the king as far as process work is concerned,” he says, “but inkjet continues to get closer. A few years ago, you would only print very low volume work digitally because of the slow process speeds. Now, because of the faster speeds, medium volume work can also be produced digitally. These presses are going to continue to get faster and/or wider and eventually dwarf conventional printing. It’s just a matter of when.”

Erickson adds that The Label Printers’ investment in two K600i models have met the company’s expectations, which were established after significant amounts of research. “We are excited to be able to partner with Domino on our digital endeavors,” he says. “Domino helps us meet, and even surpass, our customers’ expectations and should enable us to gain new ones.”
